Exhibition of interactive site-specific work by artist Jeppe Hein to premiere at the Indianapolis Museum of Art in spring 2010

Hein’s first major solo exhibition in the United States will feature a site-specific installation in IMA’s McCormack Forefront Galleries and an experiential artwork in 100 Acres: The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, (January 19, 2010)—The Indianapolis Museum of Art announced today that amulti-part exhibition of Copenhagen- and Berlin-based artist Jeppe Hein will premiere at the Museum in May 2010. Hein’s site-specific installation Distance will occupy all 4,000 square feet of the IMA’s McCormack Forefront Galleries. Hein is also creating an outdoor experiential artwork titled Bench Around the Lake on the Museum grounds for the inaugural installations in 100 Acres:The Virginia B. Indianapolis Museum of Art Commissions Heather Rowe for Efroymson Pavilion Installation Series

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, (December 18, 2009)—The Indianapolis Museum of Art today announced that New York-based artist Heather Rowe will create the next site-specific installation in its Efroymson Family Entrance Pavilion series. Rowe’s newly commissioned sculpture, which will incorporate found objects sourced by architectural remnant shops in Indianapolis, will be on view in the IMA’s main entrance pavilion from February 19 to August 1, 2010. Indianapolis Museum of Art to Exhibit Fifty Years of Iconic Couture in Spring 2010

Featuring recent acquisitions to the IMA collection by design legends Rudi Gernreich, Issey Miyake, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and Gianni Versace

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, (December 16, 2009)—Body Unbound: Contemporary Couture from the IMA’s Collection, on view from April 10, 2010 to January 30, 2011, will examine the many ways designers have manipulated, transformed and liberated the female figure. The exhibition will feature groundbreaking designs by Rudi Gernreich, Issey Miyake, Junya Watanabe, Thierry Mugler, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Gianni Versace and other avant-garde fashion designers. Body Unbound will explore how these designers used modern construction and unexpected materials to contort, conceal, reveal or mock their wearers. More
