The IMA has announced eight inaugural artists who have been selected to create works for 100 Acres: The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park. The artists are: Atelier Van Lieshout, Kendall Buster, Alfredo Jaar, Jeppe Hein, Los Carpinteros, Tea Mäkipää, Type A, and Andrea Zittel. Adjacent to the Museum and located on 100 acres that includes untamed woodlands, wetlands, meadows and a 35-acre lake, the Park will feature temporary site-specific commissions that explore and respond to unique environments. Concepts for the eight inaugural installations include works that grow out of ideas about native heritage and cultural development; structures that echo the curves of the existing landscape and interact with the lake; real time conceptual performances and team-building initiatives; as well as the use of multimedia audio-visual devices and interactive experiments.
