Most ancient Peruvian textiles that survive today came from tombs.

Textiles have survived because of the arid climate of the Peruvian coast.

Textiles were woven on a simple back-strap loom still used in Latin America.

Textiles often include stylized human or animal forms with mythological or religious significance.

The human figures repeated within the checkerboard pattern of this wrapper may depict ritual specialists.
