Earl Hao Zhi commissioned this honored gui vessel for Duke Ci, his deceased father, for the use of presenting offerings and honors for 10,000 years of feasting. May successive generations forever cherish and use it.
The ritual vessel of Earl Hao has two inscriptions. This is copied from an early rubbing collected by Mr. Ding of Linzhang County. On a beautiful day in 1966, upon the request of Mr. Yuzheng [Prof. Irving Lo], a knowledgeable and upstanding man, Lanyun Gao Baishi, wrote and inscribed this at the Guchunfeng (Old Spring Wind) Pavilion.

The inscriptions on this ritual bronze vessel have been recorded since the Song dynasty, 960-1279. The vessel is from the Spring and Autumn period of China (770-476 bce) of the early Eastern Zhou dynasty, 770-221 bce.
