The irregular appliquéd patterns decorating this cloth produced an appearance dramatically different from that of embroidered Kuba cloths. The individual cloth panels are sewn together into a longer length of cloth that, when worn as wraparound clothing, forms a voluminous layered skirt. The irregular designs, based on various shaped such as squares, rectangles and arrows create a distinct improvisational quality.
