Givenchy's use of exotic fabrics and the perfection of cut and workmanship resulted in elegant, classic clothes with a distinct sculptured look. His timeless evening ensembles and ball gowns are worn by women of all ages. His designs show the influence of his mentor, Balenciaga.
The sleeveless bodice of this dress has a jewel neckline and an open triangular back. Each corner of the triangle is marked by a bow of the same fabric. The backless "bubble dress" became famous when Jacqueline Kennedy wore a pink American copy of the design.
