In this joyful poster for confetti, Toulouse-Lautrec ingeniously uses his spatter technique to suggest the product. This new brand replaced plaster confetti, which was outlawed in Paris in 1892 after injuring several people during the Mardi Gras celebration.
The Bella brothers in London were not only leading paper manufacturers, but also supporters of the new art of the poster. Their Toulouse-Lautrec poster graced the cover of the catalogue they prepared for England's first poster exhibition in 1895.
