This later portrait of Turner from the Monro album proves that Turner remained close to Dr. Monro after his move from the Adelphi Terrace to his country home in Bushey, Hertfordshire.
A visit to Bushey around 1809, while Turner was making drawings for the Earl of Essex at his nearby estate, Cassiobury Park, may have occasioned this congenial portrait sketch.
