Irises and water avens adorn this elegant dress. Embroidered layers of soft, sheer, exotic fabrics combined with a large bejeweled ornament in the center typify dresses of the flapper era.

In the 1920s the fashionable silhouette was often shapeless and tubular. The waistline was dropped and the hemline raised. Between 1926 and 1928, skirts were shorter than they had ever been before.

The House of Callot Soeurs in Paris was famous for the use of exotic fabrics, antique laces, lavish beading and delicate embroideries.
