Patterns played an important role in Halston's trademark beadwork for dresses, caftans and tops. The chiffon fabrics became canvases for an explosion of beads and sequins.

The ingenuity of Halston's designs is evident in the beaded pattern of this dress. The weight of the beads in the fireworks pattern is distributed evenly all over the dress. Since the fabric was cut on the bias, this would prevent it from stretching.
