Nancy Reagan originally wore this red evening dress by American designer Bill Blass, on the occasion of a state dinner for Japan's Prime Minister Zenko Suzuki and wife, Sachi Suzuki, May 7, 1981. The gown was worn again before it was donated to the Indianapolis Museum of Art on the occasion of the first state dinner for the new President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak and his wife Suzan Mubarak, February 3, 1982.
