This dress is from the first line that Yves Saint Laurent designed for the House of Dior after he assumed artistic direction of the house. The line, Trapeze, was significant because Saint Laurent had to prove that he was eligible to be the chief designer for the House of Dior.

Made of five layers of ivory tulle, this dress has a fitted bodice, scoop neckline, fitted waist and semi-full gathered skirt. The bodice is embroidered in a dense pattern of prong crystals. The density of the embroidery pattern on the skirt gradually decreases as it nears the hem.
