Hand-painted stylized hibiscus blossoms adorn the fine silk chiffon of this dress. Trigère often used bold prints to complement the structure of her clothes. In this dress, the stamen of the top left hibiscus is accentuated by the gathered fabric of the drape.

The A-line shift dress prevailed as the fashionable 1960s silhouette. This style, based on the letter A, was modified in many ways to create the desired look.

Born in France, Pauline Trigère founded the House of Trigère in New York in 1942. Her elegant and practical clothing made her popular with American women.
