The H-line, which debuted in 1954, was quickly re-named the "Second Look" by Time magazine because of its major shift in silhouette from the "New Look." The concept of the line was to make the bust higher and more rounded, thus promoting a more "youthful" look.
This electrifying pink ball gown and cape, from Christian Dior-New York, is an example of a typical H-line. The gown has an elongated torso molded from the bust to the hip-bone, with a dropped waistline.
