While from a distance this painting by Buenos Aires native Guillermo Kuitca appears abstract, upon closer inspection one discovers an intricate pattern of interlacing streets, borders, and the names of United States cities and towns. These elements do not form a geographically accurate map, but are joined by the artist in a fantastical array.

After silkscreening map fragments over a layer of monochromatic orange, Kuitca uses ink and paint to cover certain lines and link others, a process he calls "joining the strings." The title, Everything, imparts the vastness of this dense and disorienting urban sprawl. Maps have formed the basis of Kuitca's work since 1989, along with other diagrams and plans such as architectural drawings and floor plans.
