This scene represents people gathering on San Geronimo Day, when the annual Taos fiesta is held.  It is filled with the details of a bustling event punctuated by the mountains in the background.

Berninghaus was a member of the Taos Society of Artists and is known for his insightful portrayals of the Pueblo Indians.
