This large, shallow food bowl stands on a low base and was used for communally eaten dishes. The decoration in the center is in the shape of an eight-pointed star, a typical Islamic design. The tiny circles covering much of the surface were probably inspired by earlier Syrian pottery, demonstrating common ties among Islamic cultures.
