In a tropical climate, a wooden headrest serves as a cool and comfortable pillow and helps protect elaborate hairstyles worn by both men and women. It is a highly personal object, which is never shared, not even with other family members, and is sometimes buried with the owner. Headrests are often seen as the seat of dreams, foretell important events, provide warnings and communicate messages from the other world.
