Nkisi figures are ineffective without the application of sacred medicinal substances applied by a ritual specialist. These substances charge the figure with power, making them nkisi. This figure has a mirrored container on his chest that holds sacred substances. Nkisi figures are used for protection, successful hunting or farming, or to cause harm to an enemy.
