Issey Miyake is fascinated with the idea of layering the body, and this jumpsuit exemplifies his use of trompe l’oeil to create an illusion of layering. Although the piece is not actually layered, the overall effect is that it is three separate garments: a long-sleeved shirt, leggings and a uni-tard.
