In the year of this drawing, Edridge turned from the lucrative practice of painting miniatures of "people of fashion" to landscape drawing.

This bay of Tudor windows is one of the few reminders of the opulent renovations made to Kenilworth Castle by the Earl of Liecester for the visit in 1575 of his patroness, Elizabeth I, detonated by Oliver Cromwell's men in 1642.
