This figure of a hunchbacked person, missing its shell or stone inlays in the eyes, mouth, and forehead, is actually a hollow vessel with an opening in the back of the head.

The Caddo peoples had a sophisticated culture which, from about 900-1700, flourished in present-day Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas.
