Uzbek girls began making their elaborate wedding coats and headdresses as children, finishing them in time for their wedding when they reached their early teens.
The headdress is made up of two very different types of textiles. The exquisitely embroidered wool broadcloth frames the bride's face. The boldly patterned silk ikat textile in the back is skillfully embroidered and has a colorful fringe border.
