This cardigan-style coat is completely covered in a custom-designed pattern composed of ivory and deep rose beads, sequins and crescent-shaped plastic beads.
The three-dimensional sequins and beads would have made it impossible for the wearer to sit without damaging them. The coat belonged to Senora de Osbourne, a Texas oil heiress who was one of Balenciaga's major clients. The perfect condition of this coat indicates that it was probably worn briefly and then stored.
