Turner and Girtin copied at least 298 of Cozens' drawings for Dr. Monro, which were sold at Monro's estate sale at Christie's, London in June and July, 1833 along with 380 other pen and ink drawings of various subjects all simply attributed to Turner alone, but some undoubtedly by others of Monro's circle, including Girtin.

Turner bought back nearly one hundred of his drawings suggesting that he had already decided to leave a comprehensive collection of his life's work as his legacy to the British nation and needing representation of his early work so voluminously collected by Dr. Monro.
