In 1794, the engraver John Walker and the publisher Harrison & Co. began publishing Turner's watercolors in their Copper-Plate Magazine, or A Monthly Cabinet of Picturesque Views in Great Britain and Ireland beautifully engraved by the most eminent artists from Paintings and Drawings of the First Masters.
At age 19, Turner was not legitimately among "the first masters," but he was in 1798 when the magazine was reissued as the more upscale Itinerant.
