The European influence is evident in the unusual design of the central field of this shawl. Four bent-tipped, slender botehs (paisleys) are placed inside the circles at each corner. A feathered vine is protruding from the top of each boteh, pointing towards the center. Egyptian-style lotuses are between each circle. The vertical outer borders appear to have been woven in workshops that specialized in densely woven patterned strips. The various leaf motifs in the top and bottom borders also exhibit a strong European influence. The undecorated multicolored tabs at eh top and bottom are typical of the period.
