The central medallion consists of beautifully executed multicolored rosettes, which make up for the conventional design of this shawl. By this time, shawl designs were very much influenced by European taste, which is evident in this shawl. The boteh (paisley) motif is almost nonexistent. The black-and-white banding enclosing the central motif is very effective in creating the illusion of three-dimensionality in the piece. Note the multicolored tab (harlequin) border with the distinct embroidered pattern around the four edges.
