This skirt was collected over a century ago by Thomas Kermode, an Australian soldier serving in South Africa during the Anglo-Boer War of 1899-1901. The high quality of the beaded leather fringes suggest that the skirt may have been worn by a royal maiden. Many of the glass beads are missing.
