Nick Hennies: Psalms

Enjoy the sounds of percussionist and composer Nick Hennies as he performs music from his forthcoming album, Psalms, as well as Objects, a new work dedicated to the exhibition Tara Donovan: Untitled and composed especially for this installation. Drawing connections to Donovan’s work, Hennies’ piece makes seemingly familiar sounds become strange and new. Austin, Texas-based Hennies is interested in redefining and repurposing the role of common percussion instruments through repetition, meditation, and immersion. He performs with The Weird Weeds, the Austin New Music Co-op and as a soloist.

The Care & Feeding of Contemporary Art: Panel Discussion on Tara Donovan: Untitled

Hear a two-part panel discussion featuring special guest Jill Sterrett, Director of Conservation and Collections at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMoMA); Lisa Freiman, IMA Chair of the Department of Contemporary Art; Richard McCoy, IMA Associate Conservator of Objects & Variable Art; and Greg Smith, IMA Senior Conservation Scientist.

The panelists discuss the roles of staff members in the selecting, displaying and caretaking of contemporary art.
