Thanks so much for leaving your feedback. And for doing some research! It is often difficult for you to see the results of change in the exhibition program because there are only so many we can do a year, and they are planned pretty far in advance, so there is definitely some lag time in realizing change.

Please keep coming back to see what we are up to and definitely continue to post your thoughtful ideas.

ok, so today I did a little more research, talked to a friend, and found out a little more about what is on the horizon with the IMA. The nature park looks amazing! I would still like to see more contemporary art come through, but it looks like the museum is taking new steps. Can't wait to see whats coming up!

I think its great that the IMA is starting utilize many of the new tools available for inexpensively and effectively spreading the word about its organization online. However, I think the product itself, being the IMA, still falls short of bringing in the types of exhibits that really create buzz, especially among the core demographic of internet users that you are now trying to appeal to.

There is so much exciting work being created by prominent young artists right now, yet I wouldn't even think of the IMA as a place to search it out. If the IMA intends to appeal to youth, that should change. Look at the booming art markets of San Francisco, L.A., and New York. Illustration, design, painting, and photography all coming of age in an entirely new way. It would be great if the IMA could be a front runner in showcasing this sort of contemporary talent. As it stands, I think the museum has a long way to go in shaking its "safe, conservative" approach to the exhibits it chooses to bring in.

The facility itself is beautiful and modern. The estate that the structure stands on is undeniably gorgeous. Indianapolis is READY for something like this to plant itself onto the cultural map. But the entire reason that the museum exists, to publicly display engaging works of art, is in my opinion, lacking.

My only wish is that the museum was more representative of the current art scene as it stands today, without sacrificing art's rich history. To not only bring in Roman and Greek Sculpture, which is beautiful, but also some of the edgier work that is being created today as well as some of the wonderful mid century modern work that paved the way for today's artists. To much to ask for?
