Really glad I stumbled on this post. It gave me a deeper appreciation and understanding of what goes into the conservation and restoration of historical artifacts. It's quite interesting to see how diverse the process is. From the ethical quandries of how much restoration is "too much" to the logistical challenges of maintaining structural integrity when transporting items, the curatorship of some items is a tremendous responsibility.

Was also shocked to find that such an interesting piece was sitting in a warehouse untouched for more than a year. I guess that's actually the norm, but so many of us think of museums as only possessing the exhibits they have on display.

Great interview. Thanks.
