I'm a big supporter of leveraging mobile device technology for museum and other applications. Many museums already just hand out iPod's for their audio tours. Why not extend this by making all the content downloadable directly from the IMA's iTunes store? Someone could just download the "album" containing the tracks to their iPod at home before heading out to enjoy the Art and Nature Park.

Everything needs to be about customer-centricity and improving the visitor user experience, not centralizing control or trying to turn this into a revenue stream.

I would guess that some basic brainstorming could come up with way more innovative ideas than my fairly simple one.

I plan on trying to leverage this type of technology for things like self-guided architectural tours. Perhaps there is some overlap? If anyone is interested, shoot me an email.
