This April Fool’s Day, not only do you have to worry about your friend tricking you into believing somebody stole your car, false rumors of deer in the front yard (my Dad’s favorite prank!), ‘for sale’ signs plastered in the yard of your house, etc, etc. (for more prank ideas, check out the Top 100 April Fool’s Day Hoaxes of All Time). You should also approach the day with uncertainty and curiosity as to what this ‘Conficker‘ worm is up to (as mentioned by Phil yesterday). What a horrible name by the way… it sounds like a curse word or something. Maybe it’s just me.

The good news is, if you can figure out who the culprit is, you get yourself $250,000 in cash! And we all could use that cash right about now.
It seems nobody is certain what will happen, but that something will happen. I wouldn’t be completely surprised if nothing happens though. Remember Y2K? What an anti-climactic moment that was (thankfully). The good news for the IMA is our IT posse has been training for this bout for weeks now. I’ve been assured by Yvel we’ve got our machines ready for what may ensue. Below is an inside look at our McAfee stats for our machines machines he shared with me (shh… don’t tell):
Things at the IMA are in full swing and I’m as busy as ever so my apologies for lack of depth and thoughtfulness. Tune back in on April 7th and it’ll be more apparent what we’ve been up to, promise.

Actually, “conficker” DID come from a curse word, close to english but in it’s german form, combined with configure.
