A few months ago, the blog team had an idea; we wanted to open up the IMA blog to a member of the public in order to present an ‘outside’ perspective of the Museum. After a little brainstorming, the “So You Think You Can Blog” contest was born. Dozens of potential bloggers submitted to the contest. 5 finalists were chosen. And our blog readers chose 1 winner – Katie Neville. Congratulations!
THANK YOU to all our blogger candidates. It was fascinating to read your perspectives on the museum experience. We really appreciate your willingness to participate and share.
THANK YOU to all of our blog readers that voted. The poll got record-breaking participation. In fact, on Wednesday, March 10, our Web site received the most hits in a single day in IMA history. Votes were cast from as far away as the Netherlands (27 votes) and China (17 votes). We even had 3 votes from Trinidad and Tobago.
OK, so that’s it for now! The NEW IMA blogger has been crowned. Ms. Neville will be joining the team this April and we’re looking forward to what she has to say. Until then, we’ll be working on a new blog contest…Stay tuned!
Oh, oh and Katie – Expect an email from the Blog Team today. We’re excited to have you on board!

Congrats, Katie. Though all the bloggers showed writing talent and insights, I thought yours was tops. Looking forward to reading more from you in the coming months.

When I was chosen as a finalist for the IMA blog contest I felt so honored and as I read Jessica, Jenni, Heather and Crystal’s entries I felt even more honored to have been chosen among them. Each entry was amazing, and their diversity just goes to show you the wealth of different experiences that can be had at the IMA! I’m so excited to have the opportunity to share my own experiences about art, nature, design and the IMA with the IMA community. I have two hopes for my venture this year. First of all, I hope to live up to the high bar set by Jessica, Jenni, Heather and Crystal. My second hope is for all of the great people who voted for their favorite blogger… I hope you will continue to read the great blogs posted by the IMA and are inspired to seek out your own experiences with art, be it at the IMA or far away.
Thank you all so much!
Katie

Congratulations, Katie! How nice of you to acknowledge the rest of us, as well as the idea that everyone’s experience with art is different–not better. I just enjoyed reading everyone’s work and felt that, win or lose, we were all standing in some tall cotton. It’s easy to see that you’ll represent the IMA well, but more importantly, I hope you have a ball doing it. Can’t wait to read more from you.
P.S. If you’re ever free, please come to my yoga class on the west side. It would be fun to meet you in person. My class schedule is posted @ http://www.leadingreads.com
