A set of award-winning films will be screened as part of the 39th Annual Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration. The IBE Film Fest features the artistry of established and emerging filmmakers creating non-Hollywood productions on subjects relevant to the African-American experience.
On Sunday, July 12 in The Toby, films screened include:
- One Nothing which proves that sometimes imagination is enough when a young man shooting hoops alone is confronted by two guys from the neighborhood (7 mins.)
- The Workout which depicts a father struggling for a relationship with his son who is on the edge (12 mins.)
- Trouble the Water, an Oscar-nominee for Best Documentary about one couple’s survival of Hurricane Katrina and the power of filmmaking and music to provide meaning in the toughest times. Oscar-nominated directors/producers Carl Deal and Tia Lessin will be on hand to take questions. (93 mins.)
On Thursday, July 16 in The Toby, films screened include:
- Prince of Broadway, about two men in New York City live a hard knock-off life when a surprise package helps them cope and make it through rough times (102 mins.)
- Sinnerman portrays an academically talented teenager struggling to get himself out of a serious situation; see how he deals with it. (20 mins.)
