Tuya, the wife of a disabled herdsman from inner Mongolia, is responsible for the welfare of her husband and two children. After risking serious injury while working, Tuya’s husband agrees to divorce her so that she can pursue a better life for her family. The stubborn but gentle Tuya embarks on an arduous search for a new husband, meeting a series of suitors who ultimately fall short in personality and intentions. The film won top honors at the 2007 Berlin International Film Festival and took home the Special Jury prize and the Best Actress award at the 2007 Chicago Film Festival.
