Event Canceled - Connecting the Past to the Present: Telling Stories with Photographs
This event has been canceled.
Chinese artist Ai Weiwei uses photography as a way to document his personal life and the changing nature of urban landscapes. The exhibition Ai Weiwei: According to What? features a number of photos from his time in New York as well as more recent images of his life in China. After visiting the exhibition, participants will work with a teaching artist who will introduce basic concepts of photography and discuss cameras, storytelling, and photo editing techniques. Each of the four sessions will combine theory and practice by encouraging participants to create a series of photographs taken both onsite at the IMA and in downtown Indianapolis. Final projects will be shared with fellow classmates and with friends and family on Flickr. Participants are invited to bring their own point-and-shoot or digital SLR camera. The IMA will provide the rest.
