Norell brought French couture standards of design, quality and craftsmanship to his American clientele.
The bodice of this elegant strapless dress is embellished with a vertical bow at the left shoulder. Two attached petticoats add extra volume to the full skirt. The silk taffeta's warp threads were printed in the flame tulip pattern before the fabric was woven. This technique creates a fuzzy outline of the motifs.
