The lid of this bowl has a boar, an animal associated with the heavens and the movement of the sun.

Maya civilization developed hieroglyphic writing, a calendar, astronomy, monumental architecture and sophisticated art.

The Maya people still inhabit southeastern Mexico and neighboring nations, and maintain many of their traditions, including the Maya language.
