Christian Dior-New York, which opened in 1948, produced Dior designs at more affordable prices for American women. This dress is an example of that line of luxury ready-to-wear.
Christian Dior debuted his H-line in fall-winter 1954. Wide straps, a fitted bodice and a flat bust were trademarks of the H-line silhouette. Dior's use of bows, a full skirt and a princess waist with cummerbund in this dress, evokes an air of youthfulness.
