{1} Correspondence between the artist and Beth Lydy Brown, dated October 1974, indicates that he wished to give four paintings, then housed at The International Gallery, New York, to the Indianapolis Museum of Art in memory of Brown's husband, the violinist Eddy Brown.; see IMA Historical File (0602.74.1-4).
