{1}Based on expertise of this painting made by Klaus G. Perls, Walter Friedländer, and Joseph Pijoan, all made in New York and dated in the period 1946 to 1948, the painting was likely in New York by 1946; see IMA Clowes archives (C10040). A new cradle obscures any identification, exhibition or other revealing marks once possibly present on the back of the panel or frame.
