While Lazzell was a colorist, she occasionally experimented in small, black and white woodcuts and linocuts such as Provincetown Wharf.
Such works “express volume and strength by the use of geometric forms,” which Lazzell wrote was the aim of Cubism.
Dr. Steven Conant, Indianapolis; given to the Indianapolis Museum of Art in 1991.
