With its exaggerated color and turbulent surface pattern, this landscape is a vibrant example of the Pont-Aven School's desire to blendvisual observation with artistic invention.
The fluid contours of the rolling hills and lush treesintensify the contrast with the sturdy geometric forms of the cottages.
Seguin admired the expressive landscapes of Van Gogh, and his canvas offers an intriguing comparison with a work by Van Gogh hanging in the adjacent gallery.
