The stretcher is inscribed "Bought from Jim Eberstadt 1959"; was purchased by Harrison Eiteljorg from W. J. Holliday in 1965 - Holliday states he bought the painting from Kennedy Galleries in 1954, but the Gallery has no record of the sale; it was donated to the IMA from Eiteljorg in 1973
