Community Outreach

The IMA is committed to connecting with organizations and groups throughout Indianapolis and the surrounding area by sending speakers and staff into the community. Visitors of all ages are also invited to come to the IMA on Community Days, when they can enjoy an array of special experiences including art making, film, performances, and tours.

IMA Community Days

Community Days will inspire everyone to make art an everyday experience! Check the calendar to see when the next Community Day is. Bring your family and ignite your IMAgination during this series of themed-based special events throughout the year.

Speaking of Art

Speaking of Art is an off-site docent-run program that offers community organizations throughout central Indiana an opportunity to enjoy the IMA collection.

This visual program provides groups such as churches, service clubs, senior centres, and art clubs with the opportunity to explore the various art collections in the IMA. Speaking of Art's program topics (see below) aim to serve as an introduction to the IMA's collections and prompt future visits to the IMA. Docents attempt to present images of objects which are on view in the IMA galleries, however, items are routinely rotated and may be absent from the galleries without notification. Presentations may be selected from an interesting selection of topics.

Bookings for Speaking of Art presentations must be made three weeks in advance of the requested presentation date. Arrangements are made through our Online Request Form (below).

The fee for the presentation is $25.00.
