After-School Programs
The IMA offers a variety of after-school programs. No need for students to be bored when school is out of session! The IMA continues to build opportunities for young people to connect with art and unleash their creative side.
IMA Art Explorers After-School Program
Teaching artists visit campuses to work directly with students attending several Indianapolis Public Schools for four weeks. Students will participate in intensive experiences with art and the creative process; participate in gallery discussions; and see examples of how artists from around the world have utilized materials to express themselves and respond to the world around them. Students will then gather at their schools for multiple sessions of art making, writing, and conversation related to their experience at the IMA. Check back for details and registration information.
IMA Perspectives After-School Program
From February to May each year, the IMA offers young people the opportunity to explore Art, Nature, and Design as new ways of seeing and experiencing the world around them. With the instruction and collaboration of their classroom teachers and IMA staff, students in grades 3-10 are given access to interdisciplinary experiences that develop and utilize their creative problem-solving skills. Students gain holistic insights by learning the ways in which artists express ideas through art, understanding how design and nature impact their lives, and utilizing technology and photography to connect and communicate with others. Perspectives school partners: Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) #43, Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet High School and Shortridge Magnet High School for Law and Public Policy.
