1st Annual Exhibition of the Society of Western Artists and being the 14th Annual Exhibition of the Art Association of Indianapolis.
The Board directed the exhibit. 263 numbers, consisting of oil and water-color paintings, pastels, sculptures, pottery, etc. First at the Art Institute, Chicago, Dec. 15 - 28, 1896. Then at the St. Louis Museum of Fine Arts, Jan. 8 - Feb. 1, 1897. Then at the Art Museum, Cincinnati, from Feb. 7-28, 1897. Then at the Propylaeum, Indianapolis, under the auspices of the Art Association from March 5-19, 1897. Thereafter, at other cities represented in the [Society of Western Artists] the series of exhibitions closing at Detroit about May 15,1897.
