The Board directed the exhibit. 263 numbers, consisting of oil and water-color paintings, pastels, sculptures, pottery, etc. First at the Art Institute, Chicago, Dec. 15 - 28, 1896. Then at the St. Louis Museum of Fine Arts, Jan. 8 - Feb. 1, 1897. Then at the Art Museum, Cincinnati, from Feb. 7-28, 1897. Then at the Propylaeum, Indianapolis, under the auspices of the Art Association from March 5-19, 1897. Thereafter, at other cities represented in the [Society of Western Artists] the series of exhibitions closing at Detroit about May 15,1897. Picture purchased for the Art Association: "Hill and Hollow," by L. H. Meakin.
