Samuel Richards, Drawings and Painting
Samuel Richards was born in Spencer, IN in 1853. He went to Munich in 1880 and studied at the Royal Academy under Straehuber, Benczur, Gysis and von Loefftz. He became an invalid, returned to American and died in Denver, CO in 1893. His work is represented in the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Metropolitan Museum and private collections in Dayton, Columbus, Washington and other cities. The works in this exhibition are mainly gifts from Mrs. Richards of drawings and several studies in oil made during his days in Munich.
